The Summer Ends With 120 Medals

The fantastic Summer of sport ended tonight with the fabulous Paralympics Closing Ceremony. But before our Summer was officially over, Team GB celebrated two more unbelievable medals to take their overall total to 120 and finished third in the table.

The day started with David 'Weirwolf' Weir celebrating his fourth gold medal of the games. He has been dubbed the greatest wheelchair racer of all time after finishing 0.01 seconds ahead of the silver and bronze medallists in the Men's Marathon - T54 class. Switzerland's Marcel Hug and Australia's Kurt Fearnley crossed the line together but the Swiss took silver.

Weir's fantastic achievement was followed up by Shelly Woods claiming silver in the Women's Marathon - T54 class. Woods finished just 0.01 seconds behind USA's Shirley Reilly and 0.01 seconds ahead of Switzerland's Sandra Graf to achieve her amazing feat.

So, with perhaps the greatest Paralympics ever over and done with, all we have to say is bring on Rio and a huge congratulations to every single one of Team GB's amazing heroes. You have put the Paralympics on the map and will continue to do so.
