2012 Bahrain Qualifying

Sebastian Vettel claims his first Pole position this season ahead of the fastest man in Q2, Lewis Hamilton. Mark Webber will start ahead of the other McLaren, Jenson Button, with last week's winner, Nico Rosberg, in fifth. The Toro Rossos are once again showing their inconsistencies with Daniel Ricciardo qualifying in sixth ahead of Lotus' Romain Grosjean. Sergio Perez's great start to the season sees him start eighth tomorrow with Fernando Alonso ninth. After all the problems Force India have faced during the build-up, it was great to see Paul Di Resta make it into Q3 and will start tenth tomorrow.

Kimi Raikkonen was the last to fall from Q2 and will start ahead of Kamui Kobayashi in 11th. Nico Hulkenberg will start 13th in the other Force India with Felipe Massa still not making it out of Q2 this season in 14th. Bruno Senna will begin the race in 15th with Heikki Kovalainen providing the performance of qualifying in 16th. Pastor Maldonado made it into Q2 but a change of gearbox sees him drop five places to 22nd.

The shock of Q1 saw Michael Schumacher fall after resting on his laurels, but will now start 17th. Jean-Eric Vergne didn't make it out of Q1 for the third time in a row, he is due to start 18th but he missed weighbridge in the pit lane and could incur a penalty. Vitaly Petrov will start 19th with Charles Pic out-qualifying Timo Glock for the first time this season in 20th. Pedro De La Rosa gets the HRT off the back row for the first time in 21st. Glock will start 23rd with Narain Karthikeyan at the back in the other HRT.
