2013 UK Open Third Round Results

Mark Webster 2-9 Richie Burnett: South Wales prevailed in the battle of the Welsh. After sharing the first couple of legs, Burnett fired in a 121-checkout on the bull before going 4-1 ahead. Burnett did miss darts to make it 5-1 but he rectified that by winning the next five legs on the bounce to go through, comfortably, 9-2.

John Part 9-4 Ted Hankey: The three time World Champion began his campaign with a tough victory over Hankey. A 145-checkout from Hankey put himself 3-1 ahead before he missed four darts to make it 4-2. A 110-checkout from Part turned the game around at 5-3 to the Canadian before a 113-checkout made it 6-4.  Part then took the following two legs to secure his progression in to the fourth round.

Phil Taylor 9-0 Ronny Huybrechts: The Belgian failed to turn up as Taylor goes through to the fourth round with an aggregate scoreline of 14-1. The highlight for Taylor was a 110-checkout in leg five but his most impressive part of this game was his doubling which was better than 60%.

Michael Van Gerwen 9-5 Mervyn King: The man of the moment started his tournament with a decent victory over a very tough opponent. A nervy start saw Van Gerwen miss six darts in the opening leg, allowing King to hold his throw. King followed that up with a fantastic 161-checkout to make it 2-1 before Van Gerwen reeled off three legs to turn it around. King did manage to pull it back to 5-4 but an 88-checkout on the bull followed by a ton checkout put the Dutchman a leg away from victory. King managed to post a fifth leg on the board before Van Gerwen secured his place in the last-32.

Gary Anderson 9-7 Andy Smith: The 2011 Premier League champion squeezes in to the next round by seeing off The Pie Man. Smith began the match with a 116-checkout which was surpassed by Anderson who managed to take out 118 to level the match after being 2-0 down. Anderson missed two darts to win the fifth leg and Smith then went on to lead 4-2. The Scot picked his form up to take the next five legs, including checkouts of 104 and 136, to make it 7-4. Five missed darts allowed Smith to pull it back to 7-6 before the players shared the following three legs to give Anderson the 9-7 victory.
