Everyone knows how well Avram Grant has done in the FA Cup since his introduction to English football. Yesterday his West Ham side hosted Burnley in their FA Cup fifth round tie with the winner heading to the Britannia for a quarter final match against Stoke. Well just like over the weekend with league teams Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton and Notts County, Burnley were shown a bit of Premiership class.
It took 23 minutes for West Ham to break Burnley down with former Villa player Thomas Hitzlsperger getting the goal. Burnley held out for half-time but just three minutes after the restart Carlton Cole made it 2-0, he then scored his second goal just two minutes to put the game beyond doubt. West Ham weren't finished though and Kiwi defender Winston Reid made it 4-0 just before the hour. Burnley did muster up a consolation through Jay Rodriguez after 71 minutes but West Ham had the last say with Freddie Sears making it 5-1 in injury time.
