Welcome Back John Higgins
It's been a tough, long six months for John Higgins. He missed the table and I think the table missed the Scotsman but after that moment of madness, and maybe weakness, John Higgins returned last night to the top of the snooker world.
The UK Championship was his first major tournament since he returned from his suspension and he looked in fine form all tournament. After escaping an early threat from Stephen Lee, which he managed to overcome 9-7, Higgins powered his way into last night's final. It shouldn't have been the fairytale end to Higgins' time out from the game as his opponent Mark Williams went 9-5 ahead in the best of 19 frames. But somehow Higgins fought his way back time and again after Williams missed countless frame and match balls to win 10-9 and take home the UK Championship.
All I can say is welcome back John Higgins. Why you did what you did only you can explain, but you have come back from the depths and have managed to keep everything, your family, your job and your image. Congratulations to John Higgins on winning the UK Championship and we all hope everything can be forgotten.
