Group D Preview

Again this group seems to have a definite winner plus one to progress. In this case it is Germany plus one, which I think will be Australia in a tightly fought contest with both Ghana and Serbia. Germany have the great strike force of Podolski and Klose who may not have had great seasons domestically but their international scoring rate is phenomenal for both. Klose needs five goals this campaign to equal Ronlado's tally of World Cup goals, something to look out for.

Australia have been decent in previous World Cups and should prove to be the same here, despite losing the likes of Viduka and Kewell. Lucas Neill should provide a defensive line and Cahill and Emerton should provide decent shots and service to former PSV Eindhoven player Jason Culina.

Serbia impressed in qualifying after beating France to top their group. With Vidic offering solidarity at the back and CSKA Moscow's highly rated Krasic producing goals up front, they could provide an upset.

Ghana would have had a much better chance if they had Chelsea midfielder Essien pulling the strings for them. However Pantsil and Mensah should provide decent quality defending of Kingson's goal, it's just a question of where the goals may come from, which is why I think they will finish bottom of group D.
