High as a Kuyt: Holland 2-0 Denmark 14/6/10

Holland line-up: Stekelenburg, Van Der Wiel, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Van Bronkhorst (c), Van Bommel, Kuyt, De Jong (De Zeeuw, 88'), Van Persie (Afellay, 77'), Sneijder, Van Der Vaart (Elia, 67')
Denamrk line-up: Sorensen, C.Poulsen, Kjaer, Agger, Jacobsen, Jorgensen (c), Bendtner (Beckmann, 62'), Kahlenberg (Eriksen, 73'), S.Poulsen, Rommedahl, Enevoldsen (Gronkjaer, 56')

The first half took a while to get going as both teams were feeling each other out but Holland throughout the game played better football than Denmark. Rafael Van Der Vaart proved a good replacement for the injured Robben in the starting eleven with intricate passing in midfield. The Danish defensive looked rather shaky especially when Sorensen fumbled a Kuyt shot but managed to recover in time. Rommedahl and Bendtner looked the most dangerous for Denmark but couldn't produce the goals. However Kahlberg produced a rasping shot which forced the best save of the match from Stekelenburg. The first goal came just before half-time after a Van Persie cross was headed in the wrong direction by Simon Poulsen and deflected by Agger which floated past Sorensen for a comical opener.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first but Holland stepped up their game and the appearance of Elia seemed to inspire the Dutch forward. Elia deserved a goal but when put through by Sniejder his effort rebounded off the post and Kuyt was on hand to slot home and put the game beyond Denmark. Keep an eye out for Elia who looked very promising and could be one for the future.
