Koreageous Effort: Brazil 2-1 North Korea 15/6/10

Brazil line-up: Cesar, Maicon, Lucio (c), Juan, Melo (Ramires, 84'), Bastos, Elano (Alves, 73'), Gilberto, Luis Fabiano, Kaka (Nilmar, 78'), Robinho
North Korea line-up: M.G.Guk, J.H.Cha, J.I.Ri, N.C.Pak, K.C.Ri, Y.N.Ji, T.S.Jong, Y.J.Hong (c), I.G.Mun (K.I.Kim, 80'), C.J.Pak, Y.H.An

This could already prove to be the shock result of the tournament, if not then most definitely North Korea are the surprise package of this World Cup. As we know North Korea are a very collective and passionate nation, this enhanced by the reaction from Jong Tae Se's reaction to the national anthem where he cried. The first half finished 0-0, which was a remarkable score line, but very much deserved from North Korea's point of view. It looked like a bottom of the table side playing away against a top of the league side. North Korea packed their defence and made sure Brazil couldn't open them up and then North Korea would try to hit them on the counter. They worked it superbly and although Robinho ultimately stole the show with his tricks and intricate passing, Jong Tae Se looked very lively and could be one to look out for in the future.

The second half followed the pattern of the first, except this time Brazil used their wingers and full-backs to create moves. The deadlock was broken after ten minutes; Maicon had broke down the wing and cut inside the box. He had ran it to near enough the by-line before smashing it as hard as he could and, luckily for him, it managed to swerve past the goalkeeper and almost burst the net. Still though despite being 1-0 down the Koreans didn't just roll over, they kept their discipline and continued closing Brazil down and catching them on the counter. In the 72nd minute however it was all over as Robinho, who was in my mind the best player on the pitch, played a beautiful through ball to Elano who slotted home to make it 2-0. North Korea deserved a goal especially from Jong Tae Se and they got their goal, Jong played a big part as Korea broke yet again. Jong found Ji Yun Nam with again another nice through ball and Ji Yun Nam finished it very nicely to round it off 2-1. Which is a very fair result in my opinion.
