A Small Congratulations

A small congratulations must be given to Thomasz Gollob, for those of you who aren't familiar with Thomasz Gollob he's a Polish speedway racer who is now 39 years old. Saturday (19/6/10) the fifth round of the Speedway Grand Prix took place in a beautiful looking stadium in Torun, Poland. Gollob was invincible throughout the night and won every heat he was in. In a semi-final against Tai Woffinden (GBR), Jaroslaw Hampel (POL) and Hans Andersen (DEN), Gollob proved supreme winning by a length from Jaroslaw Hampel. Young Tai Woffinden flew the flag for Britain and made his first semi-final appearance in a Grand Prix but was well behind the pace finishing 4th. Gollob and Hampel would progress to the final to race against Jason Crump (AUS) and Rune Holta (POL). Gollob again came through but this time under pressure from Hampel with Holta third and Crump fourth. This was Gollob's 49th Grand Prix final and his 19th victory, the perfect score of 24 points now means he leads the World Standings by a point from fellow Pole Rune Holta with the next round in three weeks in The Millenium Stadium, Cardiff.
